Who We Are
Cleveland Main Street is more than a program—it’s a movement. We believe in the power of place, the value of small businesses, and the magic that happens when a community shows up for its downtown.
We’re part of the nationally recognized Main Street America™ network and proudly serve under the umbrella of the Cleveland-Bolivar County Chamber of Commerce. From promoting festivals like Octoberfest to wrapping trees with lights for the holidays, we work every day to make Cleveland’s downtown a thriving, welcoming, walkable destination.
History
The Cleveland Main Street program was established in 1990 under the umbrella of the Cleveland-Bolivar County Chamber of Commerce, joining the state and national Main Street movement focused on the revitalization and retention of downtown communities.
In 1993, the program was renamed Team Cleveland Main Street to reflect a broader, community-wide commitment to collaboration and growth.
Fast forward to 2024, the name officially returned to Cleveland Main Street as part of a renewed effort to rebrand, refocus, and reinvigorate the mission of creating a more vibrant, connected, and impactful downtown experience. This revival marks not just a return to our roots—but a bold step forward toward building the Main Street our community deserves.
Mission
To preserve the character of downtown Cleveland while promoting growth, supporting small businesses, and fostering a sense of community pride.
We exist to connect people to place—through events, beautification, economic development, and good old-fashioned hometown spirit.
